To help revive the usefulness of this classic book, Credo Press has broken Gouge’s work into three manageable volumes, updated the language to modern standards, and given it the title of A Godly Vision for the Family.

In the second volume, we encounter detailed counsel on the most important relationship in the family: husband and wife. Gouge carefully addresses what a proper marriage is and the right way to enter into it. Next, he discusses the mutual duties shared by married couples if marriage is to survive and thrive, as well as the specific duties of the man and woman, respectively. Not only does he deal in detail with how these responsibilities are best expressed and all too often hindered, but he also provides ample biblical motivation to set us on the right path. Christian husbands and wives will find much encouragement in this book.
