The Nueva Biblia de las Américas (NBLA) is a faithful and accurate translation of the inspired Word of God from the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic languages into Spanish. The NBLA uses the same formal translation philosophy as La Biblia de las Américas (LBLA), meaning it is translated as literally as possible, word for word, from the original language. It also uses modern, understandable Spanish to clearly communicate the exact and precise meaning of the original texts to the reader.

The NBLA uses the modern and familiar Spanish spoken in Latin America, in contrast to the traditional Castilian Spanish of the LBLA. For example, the NBLA uses the personal pronoun "ustedes" instead of "vosotros" and the possessive pronouns "su, suyo, and suya" instead of "vuestro." It also uses the second-person personal pronouns "los, les, and se" instead of "os."

Bible readers, whether regular or casual, will enjoy the NBLA because it uses refreshing and comprehensive Spanish, giving the reading an elegant style. "He aquí" (behold) is replaced with "miren" (look) and in some instances is completely removed. The text avoids excessive use of "y" (and) and reduces the use of "sucedió que" or "sucedió" (it happened that or it happened), as well as "aconteció que" (it came to pass that).
