An Outline of Theodicy in Light of the Theologia Crucis

This work aims to delve into the sensitive reality of human suffering and, perhaps, in the first instance, Christian suffering, but in the light of that God who has chosen to reveal himself in what is a scandal and foolishness for human judgment, that is, the cross of the Crucified, using for this purpose the fundamental contents of Martin Luther's theologia crucis, in the manner, if you will, of an outline of theodicy of the cross. It is our conviction that only from a theodicy articulated from the theology of the cross, as Luther offers it in its essential outlines, is it possible to overcome both that lamentable aporia between the theoretical and the practical that currently characterizes this discourse, and, in turn, to offer a true and illuminating contribution from the specific and inalienable nature of the Christian faith to the always hurtful and contradictory reality of human, Christian suffering, and, why not, to that of creation itself. This will be a theological journey into the mystery of suffering that weighs on this humanity.
