A speech on the Covenants

A Discourse of the Covenants, by Nehemiah Coxe, remains one of the fundamental cornerstones of Covenant theology from a distinctively Reformed Baptist perspective. There is a reawakening of interest among many Latin Americans in studying the Bible in the same way that Charles Spurgeon, J.C. Ryle, John Owen, John Bunyan, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, and in the present day men like Martyn Lloyd-Jones, J.I. Packer, R.C. Sproul, Joel Beeke, among many others, did: Covenant theology has been the system of interpreting the Scriptures among Protestant evangelicals for almost their entire history.

“A Discourse of the Covenants clearly demonstrates that 17th-century Particular Baptists like Coxe, and their modern descendants in this century, are part of that stream of Reformed theology that has come from the work of the Reformation by men like Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin, Heinrich Bullinger and Theodore Beza.
