Charles H. Spurgeon dedicated twenty years of his life to studying the Psalms in depth and preaching on them. THE TREASURY OF DAVID is the compilation of all his sermons on the Psalms, verse by verse, from Psalm 1 to 150, together with extracts from commentaries and sermons by other authors that he liked best. And not only from his contemporaries, but he covered the entire history of Christianity from the Church Fathers to his day, including great commentators of the Middle Ages, the Mystics, the Reformers, and the Puritans. And, of course, from all Christian confessions and denominations, whether or not he agreed with their doctrinal positions, as long as their commentary on the Psalms was relevant.

 

The content of THE TREASURY OF DAVID began to be published in a magazine, because it is fundamentally devotional in nature, with such success that it was soon published in full in a collection of seven volumes in its original version, and became an essential reference book for every English-speaking pastor.
