"Looking back, it seems incredible how long it took me to learn that sermons are not spontaneous intuitions, but rather material that needs to be worked on, and it took me even longer to discover how to do it. I don't think my discoveries in this area are very impactful, nor do I expect them to be novel in any sense. I have a feeling that if there are people on Saturday afternoon anxiously staring at their Bibles, waiting for the golden words of the message to jump off the pages, I have good news for them. Don't just stand there, looking! There's work to be done, and there's a concrete way to do it!"
