What is Portable Seminary? It is a textbook. It summarizes almost all the topics for pastoral ministry. It is like a toolbox for the pastor/leader. Portable Seminary represents a unique learning experience. It was created to promote a deeper understanding of the truth of the Scriptures, to increase the theological and biblical culture of Christian leaders.
Can a single book replace education in a seminary or biblical institute? The truth is no, but Portable Seminary provides significant help that a person needs for their ministerial training: it offers a broad introduction to a complete variety of 26 topics or subjects studied in the best theological centers such as: theology, languages and interpretation of the Bible, background and overview of both the Old Testament and the New Testament, Christian history, apologetics, world religions, missions, Christian education, leadership and Christian ethics, among others.
Who are the faculty or writers in this book? The editors (David and Ryan Horton, Christian entrepreneurs, and missionaries interested in training leaders for ministry), took the main writings of 64 authors and summarized them into 26 topics or subjects. The editor of the work in Spanish, Rubén O. Zorzoli, along with a team of scholarly translators, did an excellent job of getting Portable Seminary published in our language.
Who is Portable Seminary for? For people who have more than a primary education and want to serve the Lord. For those who have already studied and are serving in Christian ministry and want to refresh or update their knowledge. For those who want to better prepare themselves but do not have time to go to a seminary or biblical institute.
Portable Seminary can be studied in several ways:
- Individually. Self-study.
- Tutoring (by an experienced teacher) in small groups (we offer a free PPT of the book's content).
- Class or group of advanced church leaders with one of the participants as moderator.
- In "special interest" groups (specific topics) within churches.
- In Extension Centers of some seminaries or biblical institutes.
