The Second London Baptist Confession of Faith is a public doctrinal statement whose purpose was to establish, first, firm communion with other churches in a common faith, and, second, clear communion with other churches, insofar as there was a correspondence and coincidence between the articles of their faith and those of this confession. Therefore, the confession of faith provides a doctrinal platform for communion with other Christians.
The present translation of the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1677/89) has been prepared from the facsimile of the oldest original copy, that of 1677, and revised by the Legado Bautista Confesional team with the advice of Dr. James M. Renihan and Dr. Samuel D. Renihan. It is called the Reading Edition because it is intended to be a tool for use by Christ's churches and their members in the public and private exercise of teaching this precious faith we hold in common.
