Accountable to Sovereign God

This book has two undeniable merits; on the one hand, it is written in a simple and clear style. Simplicity and clarity are the most important characteristics of Robert Sheehan's style, and this book is no exception. These two qualities – simplicity and clarity – are always important when dealing with any biblical topic. But they are even more important, if possible, when dealing with a difficult subject like the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man. Furthermore, the author manages to ensure that his simplicity is not at odds, as is so often the case, with the depth of his teaching. 

The other undeniable merit of this book lies precisely in its content. It does not expound on the doctrine of the sovereignty of God or the doctrine of human responsibility, but rather expounds on both simultaneously: the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man. Addressing both teachings at the same time has the inestimable virtue of avoiding, as much as possible, the imbalance that can and often does occur when approaching these biblical teachings, where one might emphasize the sovereignty of God to the point of denying human responsibility, or emphasize human responsibility so much that the sovereignty of God is relegated.
