What is Reformed faith?

The last two centuries have seen the emergence of various trends that have captured the attention of many Christians. Nineteenth-century rationalism led many to liberalism. Finney's "self-help" theology spawned several children, emphasizing "revival," church growth techniques, and reducing the essence of Christianity to personal and social improvement. Valuation theory affected many sectors of the church, both in theology and in other social sciences. Existentialism played an important role in the 20th century in the formation of new practices, and continues to have its adherents. The instability of Pentecostal theology has led to "neo-Pentecostalism" and its magical concepts of formulas for success and self-improvement. And the discoveries and promotion of Gnostic gospels at the end of the 20th century have opened the door to all kinds of theological aberration. Blown about by every wind of doctrine, many Christians have become discouraged, have abandoned their churches, and have lost hope in a sure Word from God.

Today more than ever, a foundation for the Church and for Christian life is urgent. God has not left us without a testimony, which others in previous centuries have known and confessed. In the confessions known as "Reformed," we find an ample and clear testimony of the faith once for all delivered to the saints. With this brief summary, we want to present this testimony to the reader with the hope that they may appreciate the greatness and solidity of the truly biblical faith.
