Divine Covenants

In this work, Arthur Pink offers a very well-structured presentation of all biblical covenants under the scheme of "the covenant of works and the covenant of grace." Based on the former, man is at the mercy of what he can do by himself. Based on the latter, however, man is completely dependent on what God does for him. The set of biblical covenants are interpreted as administrations of this—each one progressively revealing and introducing a new and fundamental aspect of the truth, designed to introduce an eternal truth in time.

On this foundation, the author then proceeds to analyze in depth and exhaustively the Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Sinaitic, Davidic, and Messianic covenants, concluding with an exposition of Galatians 4:21-31 (the allegory of the two covenants). In this work, we see a clear expression of that ancient hermeneutical maxim: "Scripture interprets itself."
