No other document more amply demonstrates the clear lines of continuity between Reformed Baptist thought and our Reformed confessional Christian faith and heritage than the Second London Confession of Faith of 1677/1689. And, in this Confession, we see the biblical teaching on the covenant of works clearly and compellingly expressed. By breaking that covenant, Adam became a covenant breaker and brought upon us the curse of death (spiritual, physical, and eternal) stipulated in that covenant; and, by keeping it, the Second and Last Adam—our Lord Jesus—became the Covenant Keeper in our place, and brought us the blessing of eternal life promised in the covenant.
