There is no other Gospel

In the foreword to the first volume of the New Park Street Pulpit—from which the sermons in this book are taken—Spurgeon wrote: "We frequently resort to the word Calvinism because this short word designates that part of divine truth which teaches that salvation is by grace alone." He added: "We firmly believe that what is commonly called Calvinism is no more, nor less, than that sound and ancient gospel of the Puritans, of the martyrs, of the apostles and of the Lord Jesus Christ."

Spurgeon stood against routine and superficiality. The Lord used him to dust off the Bibles of a multitude of Sunday Christians, and to awaken them to the reality of their state. And this could not be achieved by the preaching of the Spurgeon traditionally known to Spanish-speaking readers. It was necessary to publish full sermons by this servant of God so that he could finally be known.

Accustomed as we are to the superficial and soporific preaching of our time, reading these sermons will necessarily cause a spiritual stir in Spanish-speaking Protestant circles. These messages are direct calls to the spirit, and demand—in response—a deep examination of our professed Christian faith.

We publish these sermons not only so that the true Spurgeon may be known, but—above all—so that the true gospel may be known: The Gospel of God's Grace.
