What the world calls "madness" is actually wisdom. Conversely, what the world considers "wise" is actually foolishness. The unbeliever has all his criteria reversed, so he scoffs at the Christian faith or views it as intellectually dishonorable. So one can conclude, "Where then is the wise disputer of this world?" There is none, for as the history of humanist philosophy so clearly illustrates, God has shamed the wisdom of the world. It is confounded by the "foolish" preaching of the cross.
