Motivations: Why do I do what I do?

People are complex. There is behavior that we see, and motives that we don't. Behind the what we do in our lives is the why we do it. Edward T. Welch challenges us to look more closely at the why.

He insightfully shows that, according to the Word of God, the heart is the source of all human motivation. Our hearts contain motives such as: pleasure, meaning, comfort, success, freedom, respect, happiness, power, control, peace, reputation, love, and intimacy.

Dr. Welch encourages us to ask questions to uncover some of our deepest motives: What do you hope for? What do you want? What do you long for? What do you fear? What worries you?
