Although there is much confusion regarding the biblical description of their work, deacons are essential for maintaining the health of the church. What is the role God has given them in a local congregation and how do they relate to the church's global mission?
In this short book, Matt Smethurst explains that deacons are model servants called to meet tangible needs, organize and mobilize acts of service, preserve the unity of the flock, and support the ministry of the elders. Clarifying common misunderstandings, Smethurst offers practical guidance for developing deacons and helping churches flourish.
