This beloved C. S. Lewis fantasy classic is part of the great Narnia series (1950-56) and tells the story of four young English children who, during World War II, are sent to live in a country house to protect them from the bombings in London. While exploring various rooms in the house, they encounter a wardrobe that mysteriously takes them to the strange world of Narnia, where it is always winter and never Christmas. Allegorical in nature, the story teaches the triumph of Jesus Christ (the lion) over the devil, through his death and resurrection. The overarching theme of the book is the Gospel, the "Good News" of salvation, redemption, restoration, and freedom through God's gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
