The title 'The Controversies of Jesus' does not mean that Jesus Christ was a controversial figure, but rather that he engaged in controversies. In fact, many of his public discourses were debates with contemporary religious leaders in Palestine. They disagreed with him, and he, in turn, disagreed with them.
