Brave Tears

Why a book about tears?

Because she called me crying with the kind of crying that silences words. When she was able to speak, she told me, "Forgive me, please... forgive me for calling while crying... but I can't stop crying and you're the only one who came to mind whom I could call..." Something is wrong.

I can tell you that I know too many stories of people crying alone, in the middle of a crowd that ignores or condemns them.

I have come to taste the sweetness of Jesus because I have tasted the bitterness of this broken world.

I could not understand, much less celebrate, the victory of my King without first accepting the affliction that this world brought to Him and to me.

This book is a collection of loose writings born out of necessity and sharing a common thread: the pains of inhabiting a fallen world while seeing a triumphant King.

My prayer is that it will be a balm on hidden wounds and a wake-up call for those who perhaps have not yet had to go through deep loss or anguish.

Crying is part of God's plan for salvation.

If we want to be like Jesus, this will include tears.

And this is good, really.
