Jonathan Edwards was the person God used to initiate what came to be known as the First Great Awakening.
The First Great Awakening was an unprecedented revival experienced primarily in the United States of America between 1730-1743 that shook the country in all areas of national life. Edwards was a Calvinist and Puritan, but his preaching was fervent—and incendiary, we might say—emphasizing the need for a real experience with Jesus Christ and an immediate response to the preaching of the gospel.
Rev. Ernest Klassen brings us, in our time, a man of Edwards' caliber, so that by studying his convictions, his message, his preaching, his ministry, and his own personal life, we may reach some practical conclusions that can lead us to a revival, not only longed for by many, but absolutely necessary in the times we live in. Following a systematic methodology of studying Edwards' writings and sermons, as well as testimonies from his contemporaries, this work reveals the keys that led him to be a promoter and part of that beautiful Great Awakening, and to understand his perceptions of it.
Readers will draw personal conclusions that will help them understand the spiritual dynamics of true revival and make decisions that will allow them to experience personal revival firsthand and, why not, that collective revival we all desire.
