Patience and Its Complete Work

 

 

But, despite its importance, it is evident that many Christians show little patience according to the last two aspects indicated. And this dishonors God and is bad for ourselves due to its many harmful consequences and because it denotes a low spiritual condition.

 

In relation to the passage that the author masterfully develops (Count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations), and faced with the question: "Does God mock us when He commands us to do what He knows we cannot?" Arthur Pink said: "The best answer I have found to this question is that given by Augustine of Hippo: God gives commands that we cannot obey so that we may know what we must ask of Him."  

In this case, a good prayer is that it directs our hearts to the love of God and to the patience of Christ (2 Thess. 3:5), patience to work, to endure, and to wait.
