Faith does the impossible, because it makes God commit to us, and nothing is impossible for God. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24).
Prayer projects faith towards God, and causes God to project himself into the world. Only God can move mountains, but prayer and faith move Him.
Those who have been lax in cultivating their faith through prayer consequently lack confidence. They live a life far below the life the Lord has provided, as they trust neither in God, nor in Christ, nor in the authenticity of the Lord's mission, nor in their own.
Bounds wrote about prayer with true transcendence, because he himself was transcendent in this practice.
