The Intercession of Christ

The Intercession of Christ is such an important doctrine for us as believers that not understanding this work that Christ does on our behalf leaves us vulnerable to much confusion and spiritual affliction, making us a perfect target for the enemy's darts. In another of his books, his autobiography, *Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners*, Bunyan tells us about all the problems that tormented his heart (doubt, guilt, confusion, despair), but we can also see all the times when the Spirit of God rescued him, showing him in His Word the work of Christ both on the cross as his Substitute and in heaven as His Mediator and Intercessor before God.
And Bunyan, now a more mature man in faith, having already passed through that valley, now here in this book, *The Intercession of Christ*, strives to describe to us the work that our Savior continues to do on our behalf: the work of Intercession. In this way, Bunyan in this book encourages our hearts and strengthens us on the path of faith that we must travel until our arrival in the Celestial City, also teaching us that even the Lord's discipline is a gift of His Grace, a benefit of Christ's Intercession, for through it He perfects us in faith, fixing our eyes on Jesus, our Mediator and Intercessor before God.
