The purpose in writing them is to try to "stop sinners from sinning," and to make them seek the salvation that is in Christ. And with this objective, he presents the reader with different doctrines, among which are the terrible nature of obstinacy in sin (showing all its various implications), the inevitability of death (and the horrendous fate for those whom it takes unprepared for it), the greater degree of punishment that those sinners will receive with whom God has shown great mercies and, lastly, the excellent and solid nature of God's grace, which is something that has real substance compared to fleeting created things.

Undoubtedly, this writing is very useful and appropriate for awakening sinners to spiritual realities, making them aware of the dreadful nature of sin through the consequences it brings with it, such as hell.
