The Westminster Confession of Faith (1647) (The Westminster Standards)

Today, very few can doubt that the Westminster Confession of Faith (1647) constituted one of the most important dogmatic moments of the Reformation. In its day, in the 17th century, it deeply influenced the official teaching of other ecclesiastical bodies, and to this day it has been maintained as the official doctrine in Reformed churches of Anglo-Saxon origin, also known as Presbyterian churches. Historically, Spanish-speaking Reformed people have had access to the Confession, as well as to the rest of the Westminster Standards, through various quality translations. However, little effort has been made to contextualize the Confession within the specific parameters of the Spanish-speaking church. That is, to reflect in the Spanish translation of the Confession, using the language of the historical Protestant Bible in Spanish (the Reina-Valera), what the official Protestant Bible in England (the KJV) was for the original Confession in English.

A precise translation of the English original is presented, collated with the Latin translation for greater accuracy in possible ambiguous words. All of this, with a language and style that, for the Spanish-speaking reader, will undoubtedly have the flavor of the Bible.
