Christian Heroes, Then and Now: George Müller (Father of Orphans)

George Müller looked at the beggar girl. She was no more than five years old and was carrying her little brother on her back. Her mother had died in the cholera epidemic that swept through England, and her father never returned from the mine. In the middle of the muddy street, this small girl represented the numerous orphans of Bristol.

Despite the scarcity of food and money to meet his own family's needs, George Müller opened his heart and his home. The Müller household's Breakfast Club, sustained by God's provision, grew from thirty children to fill five large buildings that became home to over ten thousand orphaned children.

George Müller trusted in God in a full and rare way. His faith and generosity set a model of life for Christians of all generations.
