As a child, Charles lived in terror of an alcoholic and abusive father, and was abandoned again and again by his family. Thanks to his willpower, this young Kenyan managed to survive, get an education, and find hope in the gospel, giving him a reason to live and to forgive.

Since 1989, Charles and his wife Esther have welcomed thousands of children through the Mully Children's Family foundation, highlighting God's redemptive power amidst hardship (1949-).
