Habakkuk

One of the prophets who dared to question God at a certain moment of his anguish is Habakkuk. The book bearing his name shows him interrogating God about the violent events his people are experiencing. His concern grows as he witnesses moral corruption, social injustice, the military invasion by the Chaldeans, and even more so when God remains silent amidst his people's suffering.

From his own experience, the prophet Habakkuk encourages us not to fall into despair, but to trust in the God who works wonders amidst life's difficulties. In fact, the prophet experienced the deepest despair as he witnessed the problems afflicting his nation.

The author of this volume analyzes the message of the prophet Habakkuk, inviting us to attempt to biblically understand God in His silences; in His warnings about injustice, violence, moral degradation, and idolatry; and in experiences of revival. In short, it is a pastoral approach to the text, which invites us to value our questions to God from a faith lived in the most critical circumstances. The book is, therefore, what some would call a "homiletical commentary" on a prophetic text from the Holy Scriptures.
