Evidence that compels a verdict

While a student at Kellogg College in Michigan, Josh McDowell was challenged by a group of Christian students to intellectually examine the claims of Christianity. Josh was certain, from what he knew, that Christianity was not worthwhile, but he accepted the challenge, and focused on the resurrection of Christ as the first event to be debunked. Instead, however, he discovered compelling historical evidence for the reliability of the New Testament and the resurrection.

Soon after, Josh transferred to Wheaton College to finish his degree. While there, he began traveling on weekends to speak in churches and at evangelistic meetings. After graduating from Wheaton, Josh entered Talbot Theological Seminary in California, where he graduated with honors. In 1964, Josh joined Campus Crusade for Christ and toured Latin America on his first international tour. The university lecture series formally began in 1970.
