Baptist Confession of Faith. In 1855, C.H. Spurgeon, the well-known pastor of what was later called the "Metropolitan Tabernacle" in London (England), republished the confession of faith that is now presented once again to the Baptist churches of the Hispanic world.
On that occasion, Spurgeon said: "This ancient document is an excellent summary of those things believed among us. We accept it not as an authoritative rule or as a code of faith, but as an aid in controversy, a confirmation in faith, and a means of edification in righteousness. In it, the members of this church will have a brief doctrinal summary, and by means of the biblical proofs contained therein, they will be prepared to give a reason for the faith that is in them."
