In the Twilight of Western Thought was originally published from a series of lectures given by Dr. Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977) between 1957 and 1959, in different locations in the United States and Canada. The book was subsequently revised and reprinted several times. This translation corresponds to the most recent edition, which adds important features such as the incorporation of bibliographic references (the original work contained none); the reorganization of the text into parts, sections, and subsections; as well as the retitling of practically all chapters.
The relevance of this translation is that in its pages Dooyeweerd himself presents us with an excellent introduction to his philosophy, which can be seen as a distinctively biblical theoretical framework for the thought and action of Christian people, both in the church and in the world today in general.
