It is sad to think about how many people today seek in sex and money what these cannot give, and in doing so, they succumb to temptation and deepen their addiction. It is sad to think about how many people, in their shame, will deny not only the harm of what they are doing but also the depth of their captivity, and while many suffer in private, it is sad to see that the culture around us seems to become more and more unhinged with sex and money with each passing day.
Nevertheless, in the face of all this, there is a happy rest in knowing that Jesus still reigns and will continue to drive the march of his kingdom until the last enemy surrenders at his feet...
So, go ahead and read this book as someone who celebrates with sadness. It is what we should really be doing between the "now" and the "not yet," as we continue to wait with the assurance that our Messiah will bring to an end our conflicts with sex and money.
