The author, George W. Knight, pays careful attention to the commentaries of both ancient and recent interpreters. However, his emphasis is on the exegesis of the Greek text itself and on the flow of the argument in each of these three Epistles.
In addition to providing a detailed analysis of the meanings and interrelationships of the Greek words as they appear in their context, Knight's commentary includes an introduction that meticulously examines the question of authorship (he argues for Paul's authorship and proposes, based on stylistic characteristics, that Luke might have been the amanuensis for these Epistles). It also includes the historical background of these letters, and the personalities and circumstances of the recipients.
