The Golden Book of True Christian Living

Published in 1550 in Latin and French, under the title De Vita Hominis Christianiti, and translated into different languages over generations, this work by John Calvin is one of the devotional classics of Protestant literature, along with Kempis's "Imitation of Christ" and Gerald Zerbolt's "Manual of Inner Reform."

However, Calvin's work takes a different approach by focusing, in a special way, on the eminently practical aspects of Christian life, thus taking the more realistic line expressed by Jesus Christ Himself: "I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from evil" (John 17:15).

We can therefore affirm that The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life contains in its essence all the genius of the Reformation, in that it encourages the heart, inspires the mind, and inflames the will.
