The author of this book proposes an engaging reading of the Bible and demonstrates that, in the pages of the Old Testament, humor is present in many of the narratives not only as a literary device but also as a pedagogical one, and thus, very effective in communicating a message. It is, however, not a humor for roaring laughter, but one that provokes reflection capable of leading people to understand the will of God, who reveals himself with touches of humor. The passages investigated provide sufficient argument to demonstrate that in the Old Testament we find a God who speaks with tenderness, grace, and irony.
