God ordained marriage for companionship, procreation between husband and wife, and so that man could have a "suitable helper." However, in His Word, God has more to say to husbands to love their wives than to wives to submit to their husbands. He created marriage to be a picture of the relationship between Christ and the Church. Christ laid down His life in sacrifice for His church, therefore God expects the same from husbands.
