Heaven, your true home

This expanded version of Joni's classic book brings us a new understanding of what heaven is like, along with renewed mystery and hope. Now, in her late sixties, she is much closer to heaven than when she first wrote the book in her mid-forties, and she says, "Soon, very soon, I will hear His voice, look into His eyes, and feel His embrace. And He will say to me, 'Welcome home, Joni.'" From this perspective, Joni now talks about how we can live for Jesus as we await our true home.

Having been a quadriplegic for fifty years, she has also suffered from cancer and endured continuous acute pain. Therefore, she does not speak lightly when she reminds us that "God knows the precise tools to use in your life to cut, facet, cleanse, and refine the diamond that is your eternal soul. Every good thing God has ever given you will last for all eternity, including the good part of every affliction."

At the end of each chapter of this revised and updated book, the author includes additional reflections that recount where she is now, higher up on the summit, from where she has a better perspective. Joni calls these thoughts "climbing higher," and this is an invitation to all who wish to embark on this journey with her.
