Biblical ecology

A Christian Ethical Perspective for Humanity in the 21st Century.

Apparently, the old interpretation of Genesis 1:26: “Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground” (Genesis 1:26. KJV), in light of hermeneutical tools that disregard the prism of modern rationality, does not allow for considering “ruling” as an excuse to live in a world in crisis as if it did not exist, but rather to take responsibility for generating solutions. And therein lies the tremendous value and strength of this essay: seeking those answers from Biblical Ecology, not from Eco-Theology. These concepts sound similar, but at their core, they are not, as they take different starting points: the Bible (in the case of Biblical Ecology) and the Science of Religion (in the case of Eco-Theology).

Reading this work provides fundamental clarifications and a proposal that, although it draws on diverse theological and philosophical references, returns to the fundamental point of origin, that is, the aforementioned Sola Scriptura as the foundation that is subject neither to alarmism nor to denialism, but to the respective point of authority and understanding that, although men and women are passing through this reality and walk as if looking at the Invisible, we will also give an account of our pilgrimage.

I recommend and encourage the reading of this precious essay (more than once to calibrate the fundamental concepts and ideas), as well as the analysis of the proposals that Benjamín constructs here, therefore, I trust that this will be the first of several works in which he will invite us to reflect and act responsibly and informatively.
