Disciplines for life

Disciplines for Life is designed for individual and group use. The series is the logical exposition of four firm convictions:

The Bible is our infallible standard of faith, doctrine, and practice. Those who resist its authority will be sidetracked by their own feelings and cultural trends.

Knowledge without application is lifeless. To be transformed, we need to apply and practice the truth of God’s Word in daily life.

Applying these principles is impossible apart from the work and power of the Holy Spirit. While we need to participate in change, He is the source of our power.

God’s church is the ordained context for change. God never intended us to live independently or isolated from other Christians. Through committed participation in the local church, we find instruction, encouragement, correction, and opportunities to become mature in Christ.

This book originated from our personal quests to draw closer to God and find our greatest delight in Him. As we have sought to grow in our knowledge of our Lord and experience His truth and love, we have become convinced that spiritual disciplines are an essential means of grace. God is ready to give, but we need to be in a position to receive.
