From Malachi to Matthew

The time that elapsed from the moment the voice of inspiration ceased in the Old Testament until the wonderful news of "glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men" resounded in the heavens, is a dark age in the history of Israel. During this period, some of the books known as apocrypha originated, which have caused so much controversy, such as I and II Maccabees.

Nevertheless, knowledge and proper understanding of the history of the Jewish people during this intertestamental period is of vital importance to properly understand the relationship between the two Testaments and the political and social situation of Israel in the time of Christ.

There are already very well-written and documented books on the subject, but, as the author emphasizes, many of them are infected by the theological virus of our time - modernism - and suffer from the sad illness of questioning the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures.

This is what motivated a man of the faithfulness, stature, and guarantee of H. A. Ironside, to write on the subject, concentrating in brief pages the historical essence and taking the opportunity, as a teacher, to point out the practical lessons we learn from the mistakes made by the Jewish people during this period, to warn us about the importance of not falling into them.
