From the Christian life

We are pleased to present this brief work by John Calvin, originally titled De vita hominis christiani in Latin, and De la vie de l'homme chrétien in French. This present edition is a completely new translation derived from the new Spanish edition of the Institutes of the Christian Religion (III, VI-X, Libros Desafío, 2011).

On the Christian Life opens a window to a spirituality that keeps our eyes fixed on Jesus but our feet planted on the ground, a spirituality that contrasts with one that emphasizes meditation, mysticism, and earthly escapism. "The Lord has placed us where we are to be until He calls us again," Calvin tells us.

This work has had a good influence in the last 500 years in the Anglo-Saxon world and, especially, in the Netherlands. However, in the Hispanic world, its influence has been minimal. We pray, therefore, that our Almighty God may use this brief work to refresh the minds and encourage the Christian vocation of believers and to reach those who do not yet believe with His grace.
