When I don't desire God

It seems strange to talk about battling for joy. When something else is preferred over Christ, we are faced with the very essence of sin. One must fight.

To prefer the pleasures of money, power, fame, or sex over the delights at the right hand of God is not an option; it is a great evil.

This book teaches you that it is worth battling for joy. It may seem strange at first, but when you recognize what is at stake, there will be no more important battle for you. To love Christ means to delight in Him. Without this love, no one goes to heaven. Therefore, there is no more important battle in the universe than the battle to see and appreciate Jesus Christ above all things: the battle for joy.

The author exclaims: "Oh, if the church would awaken to the war we are in and feel the urgency of the battle for joy... Faith carries with it the flavor of joy in the glory of Christ. Therefore, the battle of faith is the battle for joy."
