What is the mission of the church?

Today, Christians define "mission" more broadly and variedly than ever before. Are we moving in the same direction as the body of Christ, or are we on different missions?
Some argue that the church's mission is to confront injustice and alleviate suffering, thus doing more to express God's love for the world. Others worry that the church is in danger of ceasing to be God-centered and therefore emphasize the proclamation of the gospel. It seems that a lack of understanding regarding mission persists.
