CTC11 The Gospel According to John Vol. 1

Leon Morris dedicated over 10 years to writing this commentary. When it first came out in 1971, it was said to be "the best biblical commentary written by an evangelical." This work is a revised edition (1995), which includes significant modifications in light of the most recent Johannine studies. It is therefore not surprising that it has become one of the most widely consulted commentaries on the Gospel of John.

The commentaries in this series, the New International Commentary on the New Testament, are considered in the English-speaking world to be among the most serious and recommendable commentaries; up-to-date with modern scholarship and, at the same time, faithful to Scripture as the Word of God. They analyze the text in detail, pausing to consider contextual and exegetical issues, and the general meaning of the text. However, most of the more specialized and complex information, including references to the Greek text, appears in the footnotes.

In fact, this commentary is like two commentaries in one: the commentary itself offers an excellent and complete interpretation of the text, easy to understand, and the footnotes present the reader with more academic issues and the original text. Thus, this series is a useful tool for pastors and teachers, as well as for the general public.
