Andrew Fuller (1754-1815), theologian, pastor, and promoter of world missions, is considered one of the most influential theologians in the Baptist tradition. Fuller's work extends not only to the theological and pastoral areas, but also to missions. It was through him that the Particular Baptist Missionary Society was founded, and through this society, men like William Carey and Hudson Taylor had a global impact. A Critique of Sandemanianism, originally published in 1810, forcefully responds to the gospel of easy belief.

Sandemanianism denied the necessity of repentance for salvation, and defined faith as a mere intellectual assent to the truths of the Gospel; in this way, it not only redefined repentance and faith, but the very nature of the Gospel. Far from being a study of interest only to historians, Sandemanianism is still alive in Latin America, in the form of superficial evangelism, which dilutes the necessity of repentance, faith, and the recognition of Christ's Lordship in salvation. This work is therefore of utmost importance for the Latin American context. A Critique of Sandemanianism represents the most select of Andrew Fuller's thought on the necessity of repentance, the nature of saving faith, and justification.
