CP God Strengthens: Ezekiel

The name Ezekiel means “God strengthens.” Each time the prophet’s name was mentioned, God’s people were assured of His help and reminded of His promise to bind up “the broken” and strengthen “the sick.”

Ezekiel lived in times of great political upheaval and witnessed the final collapse of Judah to the Babylonian empire. His absolute and unconditional willingness to do God’s will—often at great price to himself—during the long years of his faithful ministry in exile is a shining example for Christian workers everywhere.

Ezekiel’s message speaks of God’s covenant faithfulness, both in executing judgment on sin and in blessing and restoring a remnant through the coming of Jesus Christ the Messiah. The Prophet’s final vision anticipates times of great blessing that comprise not only restoration from exile, but the blessings of a new covenant and the ultimate glory of Heaven.
