The Christian life is indifferent for many. Faith has lost its interest, and the great enthusiasm that followed their conversion has gradually cooled. The Christian life has become easy and comfortable for them. It seems as if they are losing touch with God.
While this may describe us and even the Church today, that was the state of Israel in Malachi's time. The prophet confronts the problem of spiritual degeneration, the fossilization of our faith, and through Malachi, God himself challenges and accuses Israel regarding its spiritual state.
