Many Christians feel uneasy about the gap between their conscious commitment to the Lord Jesus and their practical daily lives. This does not always arise from deliberate disobedience to the Lord. Often, there are sincere Christians who see this gap widening in their lives and are perplexed by it. Something is happening that they don't quite understand, and they don't know what to do. This dichotomy between belief and behavior is the central theme of Paul's letter to Titus, and this Epistle has much to say to our generation of Christians today. In writing to Titus, Paul is well aware of the problem. But he has a sure and firm answer. The Apostle provides us with spiritual dynamite to achieve a way out of subjectivism and self-centered living into the freedom and integrity that are ours in Christ Jesus.
Titus is not simply a book for those preparing for ministry, for elders and Christian leaders. It is a book that has an urgent message for all of us.Â
