Commentary on Joel

The Latin American Fellowship of Reformed Churches (CLIR) alongside Sola Scriptura Publications is pleased to present to Spanish-speaking Protestants John Calvin's Commentary on the Prophet Joel. From the preparations for the 500th anniversary of the Genevan's birth to its celebration, CLIR established the project of translating and publishing several additional works by the "Expositor of the Reformation."

We were primarily interested in lesser-known works by the Reformers, such as Old Testament commentaries. We began with the Commentary on Jonah, and the other publications are now history. On this occasion, we have before us one of the prophets that, as always, Calvin worked on with diligence, wisdom, and respect, honoring his title of "Theologian of the Spirit" as only he could.

The prophet Joel, who announced the coming outpouring of the Holy Spirit whose fulfillment we saw on the day of Pentecost, is presented to us through the pen of one of history's greatest theologians.

We hope that this contribution from the Reformed Theological Library will be a profound blessing to the Latin American evangelical people and wherever the beautiful Spanish language is spoken. To God alone be the glory!
