Commentary on the Epistle to the Hebrews

John Calvin has been recognized as the undisputed exegete of the 16th Century Protestant Reformation. In 1559, Calvin founded the Academy of Geneva, motivated by the conviction that one of the greatest needs of the Reformation was to establish an educational institution that would not only prepare preachers of the Gospel, but also men who could apply the principles of the Reformation in all areas of life. Calvin went on to hold the Chair of Theology. It was throughout his pastoral and teaching career that Calvin produced one of the most complete and solid commentaries on the Bible.

Calvin's words continue to speak with vigor to the 21st-century world because he possessed the conviction that the Bible is relevant to all areas of life. Because of this, we can hear in his commentaries the voice of a prophet, pastor, social reformer, and evangelist.
